{"id":255,"date":"2011-12-13T12:17:12","date_gmt":"2011-12-13T20:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karateteaching.uploadmysite.com\/?p=255"},"modified":"2011-12-16T12:30:24","modified_gmt":"2011-12-16T20:30:24","slug":"one-two-hook-elbow-knee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.karateteaching.com\/blog\/one-two-hook-elbow-knee\/","title":{"rendered":"One, Two, Hook, Elbow, Knee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently I was teaching my 4-7 year old class a striking combination, which I thought they&#8217;d have trouble with, but to my surprise even the youngest of them was able to put it together.<\/p>\n<p>From a left leg forward stance, the combo is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>front jab<\/li>\n<li>reverse punch<\/li>\n<li>left hook<\/li>\n<li>right elbow<\/li>\n<li>right knee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>or as I like to call it <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;1, 2, hook, elbow, knee&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick video of 4 year JJ doing the combo, then after he&#8217;s done he climbs the pad wall and runs back to the start. I often have kids perform a technique then complete a challenge whether it be a wall climb, jumping over some pads, zig-zagging through cones, etc. before returning to the end of the line.<\/p>\n<p>This is KEY to keeping the kids occupied while they&#8217;re waiting their turn to do the technique.
